The A4 templates are designed to be printed on A3 paper, landscape setting.

Assembly Instructions

Create your topic/activity page ensuring the page topic name and symbol is used in the top left corner of the page.

Label both sides of the appropriate tab with the page name, number and symbol.

Check the page background colour matches the colour of the tab.

Delete unused tabs.

After printing, cut out the page, being careful to cut round the tab.

Fold the tab back on itself (this means it can be seen from front and back).

Place a copy of the Core page on the back and laminate the two pages together (ideally use matt laminate).

Cut round the laminate and hole punch ready to place in the communication book.

Place a link to the topic page on the Menu page.

When printing out the Menu page, ensure you place a copy of the Core page on the back prior to laminating.

For Stage 2 onwards:

From Stage 2, the alphabet page is designed to appear as a double paged spread. From Stage 3, the numbers page is also a double paged spread.

A template is provided for the left hand side page.

The topic page that precedes the alphabet or number page in the communication book should have this laminated onto the back of it instead of the Core page.

For Stage 3 onwards:

The Core page contains links to important topic pages. You will need to update the page number of these links. If you are colour coding the border colours to match the topic page background colour, you will also need to do this.

For Stage 5:

The Stage 5 core appears on a flap that opens out to the left of the core page. See the example in the guide.

To assemble, cut out and laminate a Stage 4 Core page on its own with nothing on the back and hole punch down the right hand side.

Place this at the front of the communication book.

Cut out and laminate the Stage 5 Core flap. Sellotape the right hand edge of the Core flap to the left hand edge of the Stage 4 Core page.

The flap should be able to be folded out when the book is in use, thereby extending the Stage 4 Core vocabulary. It should then be tucked away when the book is not in use.
